Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and the rest of the Blackhawks have been on a fantasy hockey tear.
As we near the final month of the season the NHL playoff race is really heating up. With three teams in the playoff hunt in the Western Conference and two teams within 5 points of 8th in the East, the final few weeks of the season are poised to nail biters. So, this begs the question, what does this mean for fantasy poolies?

Purcell is heating up the ice.
Wing players are the most up and down position in fantasy hockey. Sliding up and down lines and going on hot and cold streaks can make any number of wings valuable throughout the season. Another reason value can change is because of trades. With the trade deadline looming, there should be a lot of roles changing in the NHL as teams decide whether they are in it for the long haul or out of it. Playoff teams will begin to stack their lines with proven talent while teams out of contention allow their young players to play. This week we highlight a couple Red Wings and a couple Sharks on the fantasy hockey waiver wire that are surging into the playoffs with their respective teams.
Teddy Purcell – RW – Tampa Bay Lightning
Purcell has been just good enough to be on and off fantasy rosters all season. He has been playing even better of late with current line mates Vinny Lecavalier and Simon Gagne. (more…)

White will be a force with San Jose.
As the fantasy hockey season gets closer and closer to the end, some NHL teams start to fall out of the race and start playing their younger players, while other teams start to make rotational changes to prepare them for the playoffs. Each team operates differently, but as these lineup changes start to be made, it’s important to make sure that owners keep up to find out which players might be an attractive pickup from the fantasy hockey waiver wire. This week we highlight players from both the San Jose Sharks and Calgary Flames.

Morrison and the Flames have been scorching.
The NHL trade deadline is rapidly approaching (Feb. 28th) and some big names could be on the move. There were already a couple of trades this week that have changed the circumstances of many fantasy hockey players. There are also a few other players who have been hot since the All-Star break, so let’s take a look at what the fantasy hockey waiver wire has to offer for owners.
Brendan Morrison-C-Calgary Flames
Calgary has gotten hot since the break and Morrison has heated up right along with the rest of the team. Since joining Jarome Iginla he has scored four goals and registered11 points in just nine games. (more…)
