Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Jason Arnott Bolsters Caps

Jason Arnott looks to help the Caps and your fantasy hockey team do damage in the playoffs.

As more and more teams fall out of the playoff race, they have more to gain by playing younger players, while veterans hoping for one last Stanley cup push will try to lead their teams to the promise land. Both of these types of players can help fantasy hockey teams. In this week’s look at the fantasy hockey waiver wire we look at three sure bets to help your team advance to the playoffs down the stretch.

Jason Arnott – C – Washington Capitals
Arnott has filled one of the biggest holes in the NHL, the Capitals second line center. They acquired him from New Jersey and he has been exactly what the team needed to jump start their playoff push. He may be an aging vet, but he should produce are a point per game pace as long as he is playing on Washington’s second line with Brooks Laich and Alexander Semin. Arnott could even see a starting nod every now and then.

Jamie Benn – LW – Dallas Stars
The Stars were able to trade James Neal at the trade deadline because they truly believe in Benn. Since moving up a line because of that trade, Jamie Benn has averaged 20+ minutes of ice time. He will likely be heavily involved on power plays for the Stars while the impending return of linemate Brad Richards will only increase his value. Benn is a player to watch for this season and the foreseeable future.

Andrej Sekera – D – Buffalo Sabres
Sekera was dropped in almost every league because of his 44 straight goalless streak, but if he was, now is the time to go grab him. He has scored in four straight and has always had the potential to be one of the games top scoring defensemen. If he stays hot like this, many fantasy hockey teams will ride Sekera into the fantasy playoffs.
