Week 19 was a slow week on the injury front, which is always a good thing. It’s exactly what the NHL needed after losing a star in Evgeni Malkin to an ACL/MCL injury two weeks ago. Though Sidney Crosby still hasn’t made it back on the ice, a few other big names were able to make it back. Mike Green, Ryan Getzlaf and Marian Hossa all returned to action. Lets see who else was able to make it back on the ice and what fantasy hockey players need to remain out of your lineup.
Center
Sidney Crosby (Pit); TBD
Sidney Crosby still not symptom-free from his concussion and has not been given clearance to resume workouts of any kind. There are rumors he may not play at all for the remainder of the season. The Penguins camp have emphatically denied these reports but Crosby himself hasn’t even ruled it out.
Marcel Goc (Nsh); DTD
Goc was out with an upper-body injury but is set to return Tuesday night. Though he’ll be back, with the signing of Mike Fisher, Goc may find ice time hard to come by.
Ryan Getzlaf (Ana); Returned to action
Getzlaf is back, healthy and playing well. He needs to get back into your fantasy hockey lineup immediately.
Matt Cullen (Min); Returned to action
Winger
Daniel Alfredsson (Ott); Out indefinitely
Alfredsson is out indefinitely with a lower back injury. He’s stated he isn’t quite sure when he’ll be back but it doesn’t look promising for the next few weeks.
Chris Kunitz (Pit); DTD
Kunitz is day-to-day with a lower body injury. Stay away from him for at least this week until he makes his way back into the lineup.
Max Pacioretty (Mtl); DTD
Pacioretty should be good to go for Montreal’s next game. The decision to remove him from the game was purely situational. Deploy Pac as you normally would.
Marian Hossa (Chi); Returned to action
Hossa missed one game with the flu but has since returned. He tallied an assist in his return and is ready to get back into your fantasy lineup.
Tomas Holmstrom (Det); Returned to action
Niklas Hagman (Cgy); Returned to action
Defensemen
Ryan Malone (TB); Out 6-8 Weeks
Malone has been place on IR with an abdomen injury. Expect him to miss at least a month before he returns.
Mike Green (Wsh); DTD
Green has been in and out of the lineup recently due to problems stemming from a puck to the face. Until he proves he can stay in the Cap’s lineup day in and day out, keep him off your fantasy hockey team.
Tobias Enstrom (Atl) Returned to action
Enstrom returned last week and has been seeing plenty of ice time. Deploy as normal.
Carlo Colaiacovo (StL); Returned to action
Joni Pitkanen (Car); Returned to action
Goalie
