Fantasy Basketball Week 21 Power Rankings: LeBron James Reclaims #1 Spot

LeBron James Fantasy Basketball Power Rankings #1

LeBron's Heat may be down at the moment, but he's not.

The King is alive and well. This week sees the return of the King and a couple of new kids on the block to the Power Rankings list. You know sometimes the worst NBA teams; sure can make up the best fantasy basketball teams.

Fantasy Basketball Power Rankings:

1.    Lebron James, Small Forward, Miami Heat, Trending Up
The Heat may not be the best team in the NBA, Lebron may not be able to make the game winning shots, but in fantasy he is royalty.  We can all pretty much say with certainty that the Heat are having a bad time of late, but even with their struggles the King has averaged 26.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.8 assists in his last five games. Dwight had his chance last week to be King and he couldn’t handle the pressure. I have a feeling week 21 will be more of the same old fantasy monarchy with the rightful King at the throne.

2.    Derrick Rose, Point Guard, Chicago Bulls, Trending Up
This year’s MVP will continue his charge this week; I expect more of the 23.7 points and 6.0 assists averages he has shown us in his last four games.  But this week with the likes of Wizards, Nets and Pacers on the schedule, I wouldn’t be too surprised if he gave fantasy basketball owners a little something extra. The MVP edges Howard for the 2nd spot this week.

3.    Dwight Howard, Center, Orlando Magic, Trending Down
Superman took the one week I gave him the top spot, to have his worst week in sometime. A suspension, a poor performance against the Kings (16 points and 15 rebounds) in week 20 sure made me look bad. I expect him to bounce back this week against the Lakers, Bucks and Nuggets. Don’t make me look bad twice Superman!

4.     Russell Westbrook, Point Guard, Oklahoma City Thunder, Trending Steady
Russell is a tough one to figure this week because he is either going to be a monster or…a monster.  I discuss the Thunder’s schedule when I talk about Westbrook’s teammate later in the list, but when it comes to Westbrook himself, there is no need to discuss opponents. He is going to give you good numbers as long as he is healthy, the great ones don’t care who they matchup against.

5.    Deron Williams, Point Guard, New Jersey Nets, Trending Up
This is how great Williams is, he misses two games in week 20 but he is still in this week’s top 10! Hey when you average 17 assists in your last three games, you can do whatever you want.  We don’t care who he plays in week 21, as long as he is healthy he is top scoring material.  He’s so good he even assists others into the power rankings list.

6.     Dwyane Wade, Shooting Guard, Miami Heat, Trending Down
The Heat are struggling and the word is Wade is going to play more of the slashing Wade than the defer to Lebron/jump shooter Wade. I expect Wade to increase his scoring this week, not Lebron numbers, but not too far off. D-Wade moves up a few spot this week.

7.    Carmelo Anthony, Small Forward, New York Knicks, Trending Up
He is averaging 27.6 points and 6.0 rebounds in his last three games; I have a feeling he is going to give you that and more in week 21. With a four game schedule this week, Melo should have another top 10 fantasy basketball week.

8.    Kevin Love, Power Forward, Minnesota Timberwolves, Trending Up
He basically is Blake Griffin without the highlights. The double-double machine has been just outside the top 10 for weeks, but now he busts in all the way at number eight! 16 points, 21 rebounds was his worst output in his last five games, which should tell you how hot he is right now.  A terrible team means nothing with talent like this.

9.    Kevin Durant, Small Forward, Oklahoma City Thunder, Trending Down
The scoring champ will almost always have a spot in the top 10, so owners don’t really need to worry. With a couple of tough defensive opponents in the Heat and Bobcats in week 21, I do think you can expect a slight dip in his numbers though.  I am sure he will make up for it against the Wizards and Raptors however.

10.     Brook Lopez, Center, New Jersey Nets, Trending Up
You knew playing with Deron Williams, one of the best point guards in the NBA was going to help his numbers sooner or later. 27.2 points, 10.2 rebounds in his last four games are top 10 numbers for any player. Lopez has benefited the most by the addition of Williams and as time goes on you can expect even better numbers. Welcome to the top 10 Mr. Lopez.
