2012 Fantasy racing

Look for some surprise winners this week in Fantasy Racing.

This week the Sprint Cup Series heads to California for the Auto Club 400. Last year, Kevick Harvick passed Jimmie Johnson on the final turn to win this race in one of the most exciting finishes of the year. While Harvick figures to be a factor again this week, it is Johnson who comes in to this week with some added momentum. Johnson returns home to California and heads to Fontana six spots further ahead in the standings than where he found himself after last week’s race at Bristol. The decision to overturn the suspension of Chad Knaus and to rescind the 25 point penalty against the 48 team moves Johnson just outside of the top ten to start the race this week. Johnson is coming off a strong race at Las Vegas where he finished second and a top ten run last week at Bristol. Johnson heads to a track where he has won five times and finished second another five times. Given the fact that he will still have Chad Knaus on top of the pit box calling the shots this week, one has to consider Johnson a heavy favorite to take another checkered-flag at Fontana. (more…)

Can Denny Hamlin finally come through at Martinsville?

Denny Hamlin ended 2010 finishing second in the 2010 Sprint Points Chase to Jimmie Johnson. After a quiet winter, Hamlin finds himself in a slump with only one top ten in the 2011 season, and sitting twenty-first in the points, coming into Martinsville. The Virginia native had an engine failure last week at Fontana, which has plagued the Joe Gibbs Racing teams so far this season, but Denny Hamlin has dominated Martinsville. Can Hamlin turn his 2011 season around this weekend?  Hamlin has had great luck racing at Martinsville, but he comes in desperately needing a good run. Denny’s average finish at Martinsville is sixth. (more…)

Play Fantasy Racing Salary Cap Games at Fantazzle Fantasy Sports Games!

Salary Cap NASCAR games have their advantages and disadvantages for fantasy owners. Being able to adjust your lineup on a weekly basis eliminates the dreaded bust that many owners in draft-style leagues face. If Mark Martin has a bad year and you drafted him, you are stuck with him. If you picked up Martin in a Salary Cap league and he is struggling, you can simply drop him and pick up someone else.

On the flip side, setting your lineup in a Salary Cap league is a weekly challenge. You can’t use a set it and forget it approach if you want any chance of winning the title. Not to mention the fact that, you have to make difficult roster decisions each and every week. A 36-race season creates a lot of chances for buyer’s remorse. Every other weekend, you can find yourself regretting a pick and wishing you had just decided to go with a different driver. (more…)

Fantasy Racing: Can Kasey Kahne Win the Kobalt Tools 400?

Friday, March 4th, 2011

Kasey Kahne looks to continue his luck from Phoenix.

Kasey Kahne ended 2010 with a well publicized departure from Petty Enterprises.  He also signed with Hendrick Motorsports, but won’t be able to drive the Go Daddy 5 car until next year, so in 2011 he races with Red Bull Racing.  Kahne wrecked in Daytona but had a top 10 finish last week at Phoenix, one of his worse tracks. Can Kahne continue the momentum this week at Las Vegas?  Kasey Kahne has two top fives and four top ten finishes at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with an average finish inside the top 15.  Coming into this season, Kasey Kahne is in a rebuilding year, but with a good showing last week in Phoenix and a great average on the circuit’s intermediate tracks, Kahne could be going for a few wins and big fantasy racing numbers in 2011.
