What Fantasy Hockey Owners should have Learned from Fantasy Football.

Tuesday, March 12th, 2013

When I was prepping for my fantasy football draft in September I realized that when I drafted at the end of the first round Adrian Peterson was going to be on the board. Could I really pass on AP? I mean, this guy has been the most sought after man in fantasy football for the last couple of years and last year I would have given up my first born child to see him on my roster. That being said, he was coming off a terrible injury and I (like everyone else) feared he wouldn’t be the same.  So, like a fool I let him pass and watched AP have one of the best rushing seasons of all time while leading many fantasy owners straight to a fantasy championship.

Crosby

In January I found my self again facing a similar issue. Being in the top spot of my NHL fantasy draft I knew I would have a shot to draft Sidney Crosby. Why shouldn’t I, he is considered by most to be the outright best player in the NHL isn’t he? But like Adrian Peterson, Crosby is coming off a horrific injury that has plagued him the last two seasons and there are a lot of other great players out there like Malkin, Sedin, Stamkos or even Ovechkin. I knew Crosby was a risk but I had learned from my mistakes. After passing on Peterson I decided I would not do the same with Crosby (more…)

NHL Playoff Predictions | Alex Ovechkin and Sedin Twins Lead #1 Seeds into Playoffs

Sedin Brothers #1 Playoff Seed

The Sedin Twins lead #1 Seed Vancouver into the NHL Playoffs.

Western Conference NHL Playoff Predictions

Vancouver vs Chicago

Chicago barely squeaked into the playoffs on the heels of a Dallas loss.  Although their stars Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews have won a Stanley Cup, they are missing a lot of toughness from last year after losing Dustin Byfuglien and Ben Eager.  Vancouver had an amazing season and have several key players returning to their lineup (Hamhuis/Edler). Vancouver led the Western Coference in goals for with 262 and allowed the least with 185. It’s going to be a difficult task to contain the Sedin twins and get the puck past the goaltending duo of Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider.

Bryan Bickell

Bryan Bickell could help you win your fantasy hockey championship trophy.

This week is probably your last chance to pick up the final pieces of your championship roster. There are still players out on the fantasy hockey waiver wire that can help your roster continue to improve. While some teams are packing it in, others are still fighting for playoff spots leading to some improved play of late.

Bryan Bickell – LW – Chicago Blackhawks
Since an injury to Patrick Sharp, Bickell has been moving up the Hawks lines. He finally slid into the first line against Columbus Friday to play alongside Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. (more…)

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire | Red Wings Backup Goalie Joey MacDonald Has Huge Fantasy Upside

Joey MacDonald Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire

Joey MacDonald could lead you to your Fantasy Hockey Championship.

With the NHL playoffs lurking, some teams are giving their stars rest. If you own players like Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby, you might need some short term help. The players that can do that for you are sitting on the fantasy hockey waiver wire, here are four sure bets to help you withstand the loss of a star.

Joey MacDonald – G – Detroit Red Wings
Jimmy Howard suffered a shoulder injury on Saturday and is likely to miss some time. MacDonald finished up the game for him and looked good. Should Howard have to sit out a week or two, MacDonald could be a huge pickup for fantasy hockey owners who need goaltending help. (more…)
