Can Johnson's big driver carry him to victory?

Welcome to Ohio. The 17th state to join the Union, Ohio is the 34th largest state by area in the United States. Population wise, Ohio is the 7th largest state, which is why politicians salivate over the 18 electoral votes it has to offer. The capitol of Ohio is Columbus, which also happens to be the largest city. The state animal is the White-tailed Deer. The state bird is the Cardinal. The state tree is the Buckeye. Bob Hope, Drew Carey and, of course, Jack Nicklaus, who is credited with founding this tournament, are all from Ohio. Heck, even my mother was born in Ohio. Yet, given all that, the thing that excites me the most about Ohio is that it host the first PGA tournament north of the 38th parallel, which means I can finally put my snow shovel away.

Fantasy Golf Weekly Approach Shot: The Players Championship

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

Matt Kuchar has been incredibly steady this year

Language carries emotion. While the author can try to take control of that emotion by carefully scripting their words, ultimately the reader’s experiences will have the final say on what kind of emotion they perceive. Words like sick and bad can carry both positive and negative connotation. Even when no emotion is intended, a reader can still insert their own emotion into the words, causing frustration or anger when the writer intended neither. On the flip side, there are those writers who insert an excessive number of exclamation points and words in ALL CAPS into their writing. They do not want you to miss the importance of what they are saying, or for you to perceive them as anything other than VERY EXCITED. So, every time you mention THE PLAYERS Championship, make sure you shout the words “THE PLAYERS”, just to make sure everyone understands your tone.

Fantasy Golf Weekly Approach Shot: The Zurich Classic

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

In 2006 Hurricane Katrina impacted this event, like so many others in the New Orleans area. The Zurich Classic had to move to the English Turn Golf and Country Club, where the event had been held from 1989 to 2004, before returning to the TPC of Louisiana in 2007. Because of that many of the players committed their earnings from the tournament in 2006 to Hurricane relief. Given the difficulties of that area, the $30 million the tournament generates for the local economy is a boost that has benefited the region. With the recent flooding, fires and tornadoes that have been causing so much trouble across the country, I would like to take this opportunity to encourage anyone reading this article to consider making a donation to the American Red Cross relief efforts at redcross.org.  While we won’t all get to walk away with big checks this Sunday, remember that every little bit helps. Thank you.

Shell Houston Open Fantasy Golf Preview | Lee Westwood Looks to Make Strong Showing

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011
Lee Westwood

Lee Westwood looks to make some noise at the Shell Houston Open.

With the Florida in the rear view mirror the tour heads to Texas for a little tune-up. Many of the big names choose to take this week off in preparation for the Masters, similar to a marathon runner not running any great distance before the race. Other golfers realize that golf involves a lot more walking then running, and that a million dollars is always a worthwhile pursuit even if there is no green jacket to go along with the cash prize. So lets get ready to Texas two-step through this weekend in fantasy golf.

Tournament: Shell Houston Open

Date: March 31st to April 3rd

Location: Redstone Golf Club, Humble, Texas
