2012 Fantasy Basketball: The Top 5 Fantasy Centers

Now that Shaq is in the TV studio, Dwight Howard is the only "Superman" in the NBA.

Big men in the NBA are a dying breed. As a result, power forwards and centers just do not have the same fantasy value as they once did. Of course, Kevin Love and Dwight Howard are the exceptions. According to the scoring system used by Fantazzle Fantasy Basketball games, Love is averaging 44.1 total fantasy points per game. Ironically enough, Howard is also putting up 44.1 total fantasy points per game.

On that coincidental note, let’s unveil the top five fantasy centers of 2012.

Ricky Rubio has been one of the top fantasy basketball surprises of the 2011-12 NBA season.

Despite the 2011 NBA Draft being one of the weakest in recent memory, there are still some very capable rookies that you may want to add to your weekly fantasy basketball lineup in 2012.

Back in the day – in the 1990s and early 2000s – the NBA was a league pre-dominantly bossed by power forwards and centers, with the likes of Shaquille O’Neal, David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing and Hakeem Olajuwon dominating the paint. Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule and Michael Jordan was surely one of them.
